WAIKATO FARM SCHOOL

TO BE HELD THIS YEAR AT CLAUDELANDS.

The great need of the day is some means whereby farmers' sons in particular can acquire a knowledge of the most up-to-date methods of agriculture during the off months of the year. Realising this a number of progressives in the dairy industry have brought about the formation of an association for the promotion of a winter farm school, The association comnrises representatives Gf the N.Z. Co-op. Heard-testing Association, the Waikato A. and P. Association, the Winter Show Association and the Waikato Pig-Recording Club. It was realised that the cost to the students for the ten days course must be made as light as possible. Owing to the generosity of the A. and P. Association and the Trotting Club, the buildings at Claudelands have been given free of charge. Mr Paul is securing the necessary stretchers, etc., so that the on y cost to the students will be meals and a few shillings for lighting, the total cost of these to be £2 10s. All the work being honorary, there _ will be no charge for the course itself. The course will be under the direction of Dr Annett, who will have the assistance of officers of the Department of Argriculture, as well as of Mr C. M. Hume, supervisor of Herd-Testing, and Mr Peirson, pig recording officer. It is expected that 'ectures will be given by Mr A. 11. Cockayne, Mr Bruce Levy, Mr Fawcett and others.

The course which is principally for farmers' sons and herd testing officers, will commence on June 2nd, concluding on June 11th, so that the students will be able to visit the Winter Show during the concluding days of the show.
