PATERANGI V. HUIA.

The Paterangi Ladies’ Hockey Club preserved its unbeaten record on Saturday afternoon last, when a win was secured at Albert Park against the Huia (Hamilton) Club’s eleven. Mr C. J. Spiers had charge of the game, and the Paterangis were quickly on the attack from the first bully-off. A few minutes later, catching the defence out of position, Miss K. Macky shot the ball into goal. After a period of even play, and one or two sole efforts by the visitors, Miss P. Sifleet added a second goal for Paterangi, coming, in from the edge of the circle with a clever shot that completely beat the goalie. The pace was not fast at this stage, the country girls being content to break down the Huia attacks, and it was not till almost half time that another goal was scored, Miss K. Macky putting on a third for Paterangi. After the spell Paterangi still had all the best of the game, and several times came within measurable distance of scoring, but solid work by the Huia goalkeeper warded off the danger. Ultimately, however, Miss M. Macky shot one homie that could not be stopped. From then on Paterangi kept play in midfield, and spoiled eevry effort of the Huia front line to get into the circle. The game ended: Paterangi, 4; Huia, 0. , __ j . On Saturday next the Paterangi team will visit Hamilton to play the Old Girls’ team.
