CARTAGE OF CREAM
CONCESSION TO N.Z.D.C. SUPPLIERS. HAMILTON, Monday. An alteration in the, system of charging for cream cartage is announced by the New Zealand Go-op-erative Dairy Company, Limited. The policy of the comply for some years has provided for a contribution of the. first farthing from suppliers, but in view of the fact that many districts have become more closely settled and that roads have been improved, resulting in lower cartage costs, it has been decided to pay for all cartage from the general account, up to and including the first M per lb butter fat. The decision operates from June 1 of this year, v The arrangement will mean that all cream cartage services on which the cost is Id per lb or less will be free to those suppliers utilising them. The alteration will be of considerable assistance to settlers in outback districts.
The general manager of the company, Mr C. J. Parlane, intimated that the present low percentage of services costing over Id per lb butter fat would in all probability be further reduced when the present contracts terminated, and fresh tenders were called.
