ELAM SCHOOL BUILDING. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. As a result of this investigation into the safety of brick schools ordered by the Minister of Education, the Hon. H. Atmore, after the Hawke's Bay earthquake, adverse reports have been made regarding the building in Rutland Street, used by the Elam School of Art. When the Minister gave instructions for an inspection of all brick schools, the Elam School building was one to which attention was at once given. It was inspected by the architect of the Auckland Education Board, Mr A. B. Miller, and by engineers of the Public Works Department,'their reports being furnished to the Education Department. It is understood that the building was declared to be unsound, and attention was drawn to noticeable cracks in the face.
