KILLED BY A TRAIN

WOMAN’S BODY FOUND. i (By Telegraph. Press Association.) WANGANUI, Monday. The mangled body of Mrs Edith Maud Atkins was found on the railway line about two chains on the Aramoho side of the Grey Street level crossing, shortly before 11 o’clock on Saturday night. She had apparently been struck by a goods train from Marton, due at Wanganui at 9.20 p.m., but the first indication that there had been an accident was riot seen until the engine of the train was taken into the shed for the night. Blood was noticed on the cowcatcher by the driver, Mr F. J. Vincent, and an examination of the under gear revealed further traces of a tragedy. A search was then made and the body was found.
