DANCE AT KAKEPUKU

PLAIN AND FANCY DRESS. The plain and fancy dress dance promoted by the Kakepuku Hall committee on Wednesday evening last. proved to be a huge success and a • most enjoyable function. Visitors were present from Te Awamutu, Kihikihi, Te Kawa, Hairini, Parawera, Nguitunui and other districts. Many beautiful and original costumes were > worn and the judges, Mesdames Petchell and Ahier, of Te Awamutu. and Mr Strachnan, of Ngutunui, , had a most difficult task to perform and the thanks of the committee are due to these ladies and gentleman; " The awards were as follows: Prettiest dress; lady, Miss Hodd, Egyptian Dancer; gentleman, Mr George Melrose, Rajah. Most original,. Lady, Miss Flay, Masquerader; gentleman G. Clarke, Cowboy. Other costumes worn were, Miss Colquhoun, Egyptian Dancer; Miss * Jones, Gipsy; Miss E. Jones, Moonlight and Roses; Miss Frew, jazz pierette; Mrs McConkey, Tea for Two; Miss Kennedy. Cowgirl; Miss Winnie Fear, Columbine Pierette; Miss Mabel 'Potts, Spanish Girl'; Miss R.' Lee's,' Gipsy; Miss B. Harris. Little Miss Greenaway; Miss McFee, French Student; . Miss B. Ashby, Autumn; Miss Bell, Fairy Queen. Messrs H. Glascbw, Pierrot; L. Wenham, Negro; E. Wenham, Sailor; Bell, Sailor; W. MiWTell Red Indian. A dainty supper was sierved by the ladies committee and was greatly appreciated by all present. The popularity of the Kakepuku dances f ts so well known that it is hardly necessary to say that the committee had left nothing to chance and the comforts of patrons was catered for in every way. The dance music which was lexoellent ( was provided by the Melody Boys Orchestra. Messrs Westbrook, West and Melville carried out the duties of M's. C. in'their usual courteous manner, there by helping to make the evening most enjoyable for the visitors. The foresight of the promoters of the Kakepuku Hall in putting down an expensive floor- of the best material available for dancing has proved a splendid investment and is greatly appreciated by the dancing fraternity. One and all voted it the best and fastest floor for many miles around.
