ROSE'S NON-SUCCESS
WIHAT HIS FATHER SAYS.
(By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday.
The fact that the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association had recently expressed its faith in R. A. Rose, although he had not met with success at the English championships at Stamford Bridge ,was commented upon favourably by members of the Wellington centre last evening. Rose's father said he would like to express his thanks to all concerned with athletics for the kind, manner m which they had received his son's want ■of success " In a letter I had from Randolph," Mr Rose said "he stated that he had put on 13 lbs on the voyage Home. I attribute his non-success partly to that fact. He has never been accustomed to an easy life, and in New Zealand, as is known by many, he frequently went on to the track after doing a hard day's work on the farm."
