A LARGE ATTENDANCE.

GOOD ENQUIRY FOR GRADES. One of the best-attended clearing sales held-in ■ the^Te-A'wamutu district was that; of Mr’ W. Hermann's choice grade and pedigree Jersey herd at the homestead, Paterangi, yesterday afternoon. Mr G. MdCullagh, of the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s staff, was in 'the rostrum, and the sale was a most successful one, though the inquiry for pedigree cows and bulls was disappointing. Top. price for the grade cows was £36, for a nice young cow of good type, Messrs 'Holmes Bros., of Pukeatua, being the buyers Among other prominent buyers were Messrs Reid, Wharepuhunga; IF. Dodd, Paterangi; Hermann, Hinuera; Signal, Frontier Road; W. Smith, Hairini; R. Palmer, Kihikihi; OHalloran, Pukeatua; and J. Btidge„ Kio Rio. The grade cows were offered first, and practically a complete clearance was effected, 82 co.ws making an aggregate of £1759, an average of £2l 9s. The 15 two-year-old grade heifers averaged £2l 6s Bd, the 18‘yearling grade heifers £5 16s. and the eight untested young cows £2l, 2s 6d. Only five of the pedigree cows were., qui'ttdd ur(der the .hammer, averaging 27* guineas, the top price being 30) guineas, two of them making (that price each. Not one of the bulls was sold; in fact, there was little inquiry for them, although they were in good condition and fashionably bred.
