WELLINGTON, This Day

Private advice from Sydney reports the death of Mr J. 'Ames, Avho for nearly 60 years was valuer and returning officer for the Wellington City Council. He only retired on March 25th and left for Sydney on June 11th to obtain the benefit of a milder climate. He Avas born in Sydney and brought as an infant to New Zealand in 1840. iHe leaves tAvo sons and a daughter.
