A GOOD MILKER
Hoard's Dairyman, an American paper, says:—“A good milker should milk S cows of average quality and production in an hour. There are some men who are-particularly efficient who will milk as high as 10, while there are others who will drop down to one cow every 10 minutes. A great deal depends upon the ease with which the cows milk and the amount of milk they are giving. The figures we have given above are what would he considered average for a good competent milker. If the milker is also expected to weigh the milk and carry it some distance to the can or separator, or has other duties to do in connection with the actual milking, he will not he able to milk as many cows per hour. It is also probable that a man who could milk S cows in an hour might-not be able to milk 1G cows in two hours.
This would b e due to the fact that his speed would be slowed down during the latter part of his milking.
