PRISONERS FOR RANGITOTO

TO BUILD ROADWAY. (By Telegraph. Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Monday. _ who are to build the spiral roadway to the top of Rangitoto are to be taken to the island on Wednesday next, according to a report which, however, has not been confirmed owing to thp refusal of the gaol authorities to say anything about the matter. Four huts are ready for the prisoners, who will live at Rangitoto while the work is being carried out. The idea at the back of the scheme is to develop Rangitoto as a scenic asset. At the present time its full beauty is not realised owing to the inaccessibility of so much of it.
