LICENSING QUESTION.

Sir—When Mr Stewart Reid addressed the electors in Te Awamutu a fortnight ago, I asked him for his views on the licensing question. He replied that he was in favour of the law as it stood. I then askeld him whether he was in favour of the bare majority, and I understood him to reply in the affirmative. It has been stated however, that he did not do so, and I wish the position to be cleared up. It is stated that Mr Reid is in favour, not only of the bare majority, but also would support a proposal to have only two issues on the ballot paper. As the matter is of great importance to imany electors, and as theire is so much doubt on the point, I trust the candidate will definitely state his answers in your next issue to the following question. (1) Is he in favour of the bare majority?; (2) Is lie in favour of a two-issue'ballot paper?—l am etc. E. T. CRUMP.
