COLONIAL BUTTER
PRICE ATTRACTIVE. FOR EUROPEAN MARKET. ■• i , Cblonial butter prices are now at an eminently interesting level, says the English “Grocer,” It is Aolt surprising that Colonial butteriPs meeting with considerable attention, both on home and export account. The exports are going chiefly (p the near Continent. We hear a lot nowadays in regard to the high cost of living. Is the consumer blameless in this connection? Take, for instance, the present high cost of Danish butter. Everybody is aware of the high standard of quality which the Danish product enjoys, nevertheless there is a wide difference of value between Danish and Colonial butter. In the North of England, the Midlands, and the South of Scotland the demand is persistently for the higher priced article —Danish. When Colonial butter is so plentiful as now and is offered at such reasonable rates, it is remarkable that the British consumer does not give more attention to the cheaper product. It is apparent that Northern consumers are conservative in their habits, and to gratify their desires prefer to pay more money rather than buy in the cheapest market.
