NEWSPAPER ADVERTISING

MOST POPULAR MEDIUM

That newspaper' advertising is by far the most popular form of publicity in New Zealand was proved recently by an investigation conducted by thje Charles Haines Advertising Agency, Ltd., of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. A Questionnaire was sent to hundreds of business houses right throughout New Zealand seeking the relative value of different media according to the actual experiences of substantial advertisers.

An analysis of the replies showed that no less Zealand publicists prefer newspapers above all other methods of advertising. This practical conclusion, of course, simply supports the principles that have long since been discovered in this country although they are probably not known to the great bulk of the general public. Not only is newspaper advertising the most popular medium of publicity but it is also the most effective and economical—in New Zealand At any rate. In this Dominion there is roughly one newspaper to every 7000 men, women and children of the population. This is a world's record, as a comparison with other countries 1 illustrates. New Zealanders are the greatest newspaper-readers on the face of the globe.-
