An interesting sporting event was recently contested in Bulls between two well-known members of-the community (says an exchange). The event took the form of a walking race from Bulls to San don and back, and was the result of a wager which had been made. In order to give particulars of the race, take the competitors to be "Steam" and "Benzine," and the stakeholder "Toxo." The pair left under cover of darkness and after a wait of two hours "Benzine" arrived back some distance ahead of "Steam," both showing signs of having had a strenuous race. "Toxo" duly paid over the stakes and it was not until some time afterwards that it leaked out that the first and last 200 yards were done on foot and the balance by motor car.
