BUTTER AND CHEESE.

.GRADED DURING OCTOBER (By Telegraph. Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The figures of the Dairy Division ,of the Department of Agriculture show that the salted butter graded for October was 6507 tons and the unsalted 425 tons, a total of 6832 tons, compared with 7777 tons salted and 904 tons unsalted, a total of 8681 tons for October last year, a decrease of 21.2 per cent. For the three months ended October the respective quantities were 12,008 tons and 494 tons, a total of 12,502 tons, compared with 15,087 tons and 1194 tons, a .total of 16,281 tons, a decrease of 23.2 per cent. The cheese graded for October comprised:—White 4497 tons, coloured 3019 tons, a total of 7516 tons, compared with 1970 tons while and 1129 tons coloured, a total of 3099 tons, an increase of_ 142.5 per cent. The quantities for the three months ended October, 1923, were: White 6516 tons, coloured 4262 tons, a total of 10.788 tons, compared with 2372 tons white and 1343 tons coloured, a total of 3715 tons, an increase of 190.1 per cent. Converting these figures into butterfat enuivalent, there is a decrease of 2.9 per cent., in butterfat produc+jon for the three months, as compared with the corresponding period of 1922-23.
