DIED IN THE BUSH.
mad Maoris adventure. Early in the week news reached the Kawliia police that a Maori woman named Ngaro (otherwise Mrs Kongo) had disappeared from the home of her brother, John Salvation, of Awaroa. It appears that her brother and sister were engaged collecting firewood last. Tuesday week, when, without warning, the latter disappeared, leaving no trace of her whereabouts. Later in the week search parties were organised. but day after day passed with out result, until on Tuesday morning exactly a week after her disappearance —tlie body of the unfortunate woman was discovered in some teatree, about a mile distant. An inquest was held before Mr Jas. Ktarns, J.P. (district coroner) when the evidence disclosed the fact that the woman had been of unsound mind for some time past. The body was quite devoid of clothing when found, and death had evidently resulted from exposure and want of food. A verdict in accordance with the evidence was returned, and the body was immediately interred at the Maori burial ground.
