AUCKLAND DEEDS OFFICE.
BRANCH AT HAMILTON
IMPOSSIBLE,
Mr J. A. Young, MJP., made a suggestion to the Minister of Justice that, in view of the complaints concerning the delay in ,the Auckland Deeds Office in the matter of deeds registration and land transfers, the Auckland district should be sub-divided and a second district constituted, with Hamilton as the centre.
The -Minister replied that to carry out the suggestion would be the work of years, and no layman ,could appreciate the difficulty which would be experienced. As the register books could not be sub-divided a copy would Wave to be made for Hamilton, and every document which recorded a piece of land would have to be duplicated in Hamilton. The congestion in the the Auckland office had been very great twelve or eighteen months ago., but he thought it had been pretty well overtaken now. The officer in charge was a very competent man, whose aim 'was to get the day’s work done today. The Minister could hold out no hope that the new district would be constituted.
