TO PROTECT YOUNG GIRLS. By Telegraph. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. At the Supreme Court, Charles Brice, for indecently assaulting and attemptto carnally know a female of fourteen years of age, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment with hard labour pn each count, the sentences to run Concurrently. The Judge said' the sentence was not merely intended as a punishment for the crime committed by the prisoner, but also to show men of similar inclinations, particularly those who were not averse to using violence to accomplish their ends, that the Court was there to vindicate the purity of young people and protect young girls.
