Mr Craig, stationmaster, left for a month's holiday, which he proposes to spend in the Marlborough Sounds district. Mr O'Reilly will relieve him during his absence. A general meeting of the recentlyformed Otorohanga Gymnasium and Boxing Cluh is called for Monday, in the Town Hall chamibers, when a progress report will he presented and the election of officers take place. Suppliers to the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company's factories here are to be addressed by Mr A. 3. (Sinclair (assistant manager) in the Town Hall on Wednesday next, at 2 p.m. Douhtless there will be a large attendance, as district suppliers have been anxiously awaiting Mr Sinclair's visit. Mrs G. H. Woods, of Whangarei, is visiting her daughter, Mrs Chas. Barton, of Ngahape. She is accompanied by Miss M. Hosking, of Sydney, who is much impressed with the possihillties of the Otorohanga district.
The meeting of householders in connection with the proposal to provide extra school accommodation was held last evening, ahout twenty-six being present. A report of the proceedings will appear in our next issue. Suffice it to say that It was decided Iby s majority of four to raise a fund in order to provide temporary additions to the school buildings. The death occurred at his late residence, Porirua, on Sunday morning of Mr James Wall, one of the oldest and most highly respected settlers in the Wellington district. The late Mr Wall, who was 83 years of age, was quite hale and hearty up to about a month ago, and his death was the result of a short illness. Born in Etwald, Derbyshire, deceased came out to Wellington with his parents) in the ship Lord Wxliam Bentick, in 1841, and settled almost imediately at Porirua, following farming pursuits. His father, the late Mr Anthony Wall, felled and cleared the first piecs of bush in the Johnsonville district—an area comprising 25 acres. The late Mr Wall'si wife predeceased him some months ago. He is survived by a family of four—three sons and a daughter—Mr James Wall, of Te Kuiti, Messrs Wilfred and Alfred Wall, of Porirua, and Mrs Laidlay, of Taihape. Included in the nephews are Mr Frank Wall, of Maryborough. Mr Percy Wall, Hawke's Bay, and Dr Wall, Wanganui.
