New appointments as justices of the peace include Mesfers W. H. Bell and J. L. Macky (Pirongia), W. J. Lilley (Putaruru), E. J. Goddard Ngaroma), J. Thomas (Pawhenua). and A. A. Lurman (Otorohanga). News was received on Thursday that Miss Kitty Johnson, a pupil of the Te Awamutu school, had passed the public service entrance examination. The examination was held in Auckland last June, and Miss Johnson was the only candidate from the local school. / Mr J. T. Johnson, chairman of the Te Awamu'tu Electric Power Board, and the secretary-manager (Mr D. T. McArthur) arrived back to-day from Wellington, where they had made a brief visit on Board business. Mr P. Bray, who has recently been promoted to the staff of the Rotorua post office from Te Awamutu, is at present spending his five weeks’ vacation with his parents in Raglan.
