NEW BY-LAW PASSED.” WHAT PASSENGERS MUST Nt)T DO. A new by-law governing the Irani passenger traffic in Auckland was ' passed by the City Council on Thrusday evening. Clause (6) provides that no person shall push or force his way in an unruly or violent manner when entering or mounting or attempting to enter or mount a tramcar. Other provisions are: (7) No passenger shall stand or remain on any platform or on. the steps of any tramcar when requested by the conductor of such car not to do so, and no passenger shall remain on a tramcar when requested to leave such tramcar by the conductor thereof. (S) Every passenger who has not already paid his fare, and whether or not the conductor makes a formal demand for payment of fares, shall, in such a way as shall bring the fact to the conductor’s notice, tender to the conductor as soon as he approaches such passenger the fare legally-demandable for such passenger’s journey. If the passenger shall not have paid his fare before the termination of his journey, then the passenger shall, before leaving the car pay to the conductor the fare legally demandable for such journey, but payment under this clause shall not exonerate or release the passenger from his liability for breach, if •any shall have been committed, of the preceding clause. No person travelling by a car shall by any means evade or attempt to evade payment of the proper fee for the journey.

No person shall spit or place or deposit remnants of food, fruit or refuse in or upon any tramcar or waiting room. No person shall place his fdet on any seat in or upon any tramcar. No person shall take into or upon any tramcar any luggage which will, in the opinion of the conductor, interfere with the comfort of' other passengers or impede any officer or servant *of the department in the execution of his duties. No person shall in any ,way Wilfully obstruct any person desiring to enter or leave any tramcar or obstruct or impede any conductor or officer of the department in the execution •of his duty.
