CRICKET.
CRICKET AT PATERANGI.
On Wednesday last an all-day cricket match was played at Spiers' paddock, Paterangi, between ■Ngahinapouri and Paterangi teams. Paterangi, ibatting on an excellent wicket, scored 171 runs before being disposed of, S. C. Somerville 70 (not out) mau& by splendid cricket, P. Spiers 40, and P. Tarr 24, batted well and were the main contributors to the score. S. Reid, Livingstone, and Lewis shared bowling honours. Ngahinapouri in thpir first innings only reached 26 runs, S. Reid (14), being the only batsman to make any showing against the bowling of P. iSpiers and P. Tarr. Ngahinapouri, following on, faied much better, making 73 runs, N. Reid 25. S. Reid 13, and Livingstone 9 being the principal scorers. P Tarr and Somerville Brothers shared bowling honours for Paterangi. At the conclusion of the game Mr iS. Reid, captain of Ngahinapmri team, in a few well chosen words thanked the ladies for their genuine hospitality. Cheers concluded a most enjoyable day for players and spectators alike.
