MEETING OF . COMMITTEE, FINAL ARRANGEMENTS CONSIDERED. A well attended meeting of the co,mmittees promoting the Labour Day Celebrations at T? Awamutu was held last night. Mr M. C. Lawson presided. A programme was drawn up as fol- » lows: —12 noon—massed;, bands; 12.15 p.m., sack race; 1 p.m.( novice chop; 1.10 p.m., tent pegging; 1.30 p.m., tent pegging by segtions; 1.45 p.m., rescue race; 2 p.m., underhand chop; 2.10 p.m. jumping competition; 2.30 p.m., Lloyd Lindsay competition; 2.30 p.m., boys boxing; 2.45 p.m, wrestling on horseback; 3 p.m., 100 -yards handicap; 3.10 p.m., Te Awamutu ama-* ,teur chop; 3.20 p.m. physical training competition; 3.45 p.m. businessmen’s chop; 3.50 p.m.,- tug-of-war on horseback; 4.5 p.m. thread the needle race' and 4.15 p.m. veteran’s race. ’ Mr Spencley Walker reported that everything was in readiness for the childen’s section A junior boxing contest had been added to the programme'and for this Messrs. Lawson and Swain had offered prizes. In addition three scholars who had earned small sums for cleaning the school recently had donated additional prizes. ; The bands are to assemble at the bandroom at 11.30 a.m. and march at noon along Arawata, Alexandra ana Teasdale streets to Victoria Park. Arrangements were concluded for the entertainment of the visiting bandsmen and officials. The sub-committee reported that, iu accordance with several requests, it had been decided to provide milk for picnickers. A nominal charge will be made for the hot water and milk. It was decided, after the consideration of many details, to adjourn until 5 a.m. on Monday when a working bee will be held on the grounds.
