Received December 6,5.15 p.m. The following telegram, dated sth December, has been received by His Excellency the Governor from the Secretary of State for the Colonies The French Government reports lively cannonades round Nieuport and Ypres. Lesmeuil and Dexon signal stations have been occupied. The Russians reported on 2nd December a German offensive movement west of Lodz. Bantfield, beyond the Carpathians, has been captured, and 1200 prisoners and six machine guns taken. On 3rd December obstinate fighting took place in front of Loweiz and on the western roads towards Lodz andPiotrkow and on other fronts. There are no essential modifications.
