FIRE NEAR TE AWAMUTU.

Fire completely destroyed an eight-roomed dwelling on the Te Rahu Road (about i l / 2 miles from Te Awamutu) in the early hours of yesterday morning. The building was owned by Mrs M. E. Bluck and occupied bv Mr J. F. Reid. So complete was the fire that not even the house-blocks remained. At the time of the outbreak Mr Reid was the sole occupant of the dwelling, and he was awakened by the sounds of fire overhead. Rushing outside he found the flames breaking through the roof. Single-handed he was powerless to check the fire, which, fanned by a firm wind, quickly enveloped the structure. Beyond a few personal effects, Mr Reid was unable to get any of the contents of the house to a place of safety. The building and effects were insured in the State office—the building for £2OO and the furniture for £IOO.
