SOCIAL EVENING.

A social evening was given by the members of the local Oddfellows Lodge on Monday, at the conclusion of their lodge meeting. The officers and brethren of the Druids' Lodge met the Oddfellows at progressive euchre, after which musical items were given by some of those present. Mr Barryman, of the Oddfellows, of Taumarunui, won the first prize, and Mr J. Marshall won the consolation prize.. Songs were contributed by Messrs Galloway, Parker, Marshall, Gardner, Worthington, Fredric and Price Owen. Messrs Fredric and Winch were the accompanists. A light supper was handed round. Mr S. Clark, on behalf of the Druids, thanked the Oddfellows for their invitation to one of their most pleasant evenings, thus showing the good feeling that existed between the two kindred societies, and hoped that these pleasant evenings would continue periodically. Mr O. Price Owen also thanked the hosts for their enjoyable evening. In thanking the speakers for their kind remarks the secretary of the Oddfellows, Mr Worthington (P.G.) said the pleasure of the evening belonged to the Oddfellows. He was pleased to see so many members of the Druids' lodge present, also other guests. He hoped that the time was not far distant when the two lodges would mee-t at a similar gathering. The singing of God Save the King and Auld Lang Syrte brought to a close a most enjoyable evening.
