TE AWAMUTU TOWN BAND.

Fifteen bandsmen were present at a meeting of the band held.in it he bandroom last night, Mr J. T. North presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed and the balance sheet of the recent picnic submitted and approved. Special mention was made of

the action of the Otorohanga band in assisting at the picnic, and the members were unanimous in the desire to be of some similar assistance to the Otorohanga band.

The Secretary of St Andrew's Presbyterian Guild wrote asking that the band endeavour to ar-

range to play on the evenings of 20th and 2ist inst. at the bazaar, and also asking what the fees would be. The band resolved to play without charge on the Friday night and also on the Saturday provided in consideration of the Saturnay night, one guinea is voted by the church to the new instrument fund.

In connection with the band stall at the bazaar already arranged for, a ladies committee was nominated and the secretary was requested to interview the Guild secretary in the matter. Some discussion, relative to the internal affairs of the band, and regarding the proposed purchase of new instruments took place, and ultimately the secretary was requested to make certain enquiries and report. It was suggested that, as nine uniforms were still required, a

portion of the new instrument funds be allocated for the purchase of new uniforms. After discussion, notice of motion was given to move at the next meeting that bandsmen now without uniform be entitled to buy their own outfit through the committee, the purchase money to be refunded by the band to the purchaser by a set number of instalments. It was thought that this would enable a full set of uniforms to be secured without unduly confusing the band's funds.

The meeting expressed a keen desire to assist in promoting the Belgian relief fund and offers accordingly are to be submitted to

the central committee. It was resolved that the secretary arrange a seiies of visits to Kihikihi, Pirongia, Paterangi, Hairini, and Ohaupo, as was done last summer. _ The meeting expressed appreciation of the work done by its executive officers and of the support and encouragement given by the public.
