HOCKEY.

A meeting of the above Association took place in the Cosmopolitan Club room on Saturday evening. Mr W. Douglas presided, the following members being present Messrs J. M. Spear, L. Allright, K. Johnstone, C. Davis, E. Parker, R. Gordon and Ironsides.

An apology for non-attendance was received from Mr L. North.

The secretary stated that he had received a communication from the Hamilton Association in reference to a match with the Waipa Association, but the date being unsuitable, the fixture was abandoned.

The question of whether the match against Taumarunui on Wednesday should be a representative or a club match was freely discussed. The chairman was of opinion that the match should be a club contest. Taumarunui were not bringing up a representative team, and in fairness to them the match should be confined to a club fixture.

The other members agreed with the views expressed by the chairman.

On the motion of Mr Parker, seconded by Mr Allright, it was decided that the arrangementsin connection with the match with Taumarunui be left in the hands of the Te Awamutu Club, and that the two captains be appointed to select the team. The Te Awamutu Town Band submitted proposals with regard to entertaining the visiting teams at the grand concert and hypnotic display on Wednesday. It was decided to accept the offer, and tp thank the Band for their offer.
