HOCKEY.

WAIPA HOCKEY ASSOCIATION,

A meeting of the above Association took place in the Cosmopolitan club room on ■ Tuesday evening. There were present: — Messrs S. A. Empson (chairman), W. Douglas, E. Warner, L. North, J. M. Spear, K. Johnstone, G. Ironsides, R. Johnstone, and J. Duncan (secretary). An apology was received from the Pirongia club's delegates, who were unable to be present.

The chief business 01 the meeting was to make arrangements for the visit of the Auckland team, who play Waipa representatives on Thursday, August 27th. It was considered advisable, owing to the limited time available, to select the team that evening, the secretary to at once acquaint those players who were chosen.

It was proposed by Mr North that the team to represent Waipa against Auckland be selected by a committee composed of one delegate from each club present at the meeting. The following team was chosen : —Goal, Finn ; full-backs, Douglas, McKinnon ; halves, Duncan, Sylvester, and Andrew; forwards, North, A. Fear, L. Davis, K. Johnstone, Gordon: Emergencies: goal, Spear; back, Edwards; halves, Macky, Parker; forwards, C. Forkert, Hurley.

On the motion of the secretary it was arranged that the visitors be entertained at a dance, in the evening. It was resolved to ask the co-operation of the various clubs connected with the Association to assist. The price of tickets was fixed at gentlemen 3s, ladies is.

Several members of the ladies' hockey team were present, and expressed their willingness to assist in providing the supper, and with this end in view it was arranged that a meeting be called for Friday afternoon at the libraryrooms to make all necessary arrangements.

The match against Cambridge was fixed for September 2nd, and it was arranged to play Taumarunui on September 9th.
