Alexander (telephone 87, Te Awamutu exchange). PATRIOTIC CONCERT. A final reminder is given of the concert to be held this evening at the Town Hall to collect funds to go towards the expeditionary force. The greatest enthusiasm has been displayed by those responsible this evening’s arrangements, with the result that an excellent programme of appropriate choruses, songs, instrumental pieces, and other items will be given. An inset appears in this issue giving particulars of the programme.
A special feature in the programme will be a magnificent tableaux, “Empire’s Call,” into which will be introduced those who will represent the friendly disposed nations toward Britain. During the evening the character song ‘The absent-minded Beggar’ will be rendered. The tickets are selling freely, and as a result of the response there is sure to be a crowded audience.
