KIHIKIHI.

A complaint was made to the police yesterday by W. Bowers, a young man employed at Kihikihi, to the effect that about 6 p.m. he heard the report of a pea-rifle; simultaneously the bullet went through his hand. It is to be hoped that the person who so recklessly discharged the firearm will be discovered and severely punished. An adjourned meeting of the Tennis Club was held on Wednesday evening. Present:—Mr O'Brien (president), Messrs J. G. Elmsly, Bonner, Wade, Anderson, Johns, Fitzpatrick, Hurley, Porter, Moody, and C. Alderson (s£J?retary), Mrs Wade, Misses Anderson and McFlin.—The minifies of the previous meeting were, read and confirmed.—Mr O'Brien spoke in reference to the discussion that had taken place at the previous meeting re position of the new courts. Various members spoke on the same subject, and it was agreed to have the courts at the back of the hall. It was decided to instruct Mr Moody to commence the work as soon as possible, and a sub-com-mittee was apointed to see that the work was carried out to its satisfection.—lt was decided to hold a euchre social fortnightly during the winter months, as from Wednesday next. —A vote of thanks to the chair terminated ,4he meeting.
