POLO.
SOUTH AUCKLAND PRO VINCIAL TOURNAMENT.
*The South Auckland Provincial Polo Tournament is being continued at the Hamilton club’s grounds. The various games in connection with the Provincial Cup, Handicap Cup and Cameron Cup Tournaments are being played off in the presence of a large number of spectators, and considerable interest is being taken in the various matches. The games have been keenly contested and some very good and exciting polo has been played. The results to date are — PROVINCIAL CUP: Te Awamutu A and Cambridge teams in the final. This cup has been held by the Te Awamutu club for the last five years and much interest centres in the final game which takes place at 3 o’clock this afternoon. Both teams are stated to be well matched and the final game to decide the holders of the cup for next year is bound to be a keenly contested one.
First round—Te Awamutu A, 6; Hamilton A, 4 ; Te Awamutu B, 5 ; Waihou, 4 ; Cambridge, 7 ; Hamilton B, I. Second Round Cambridge won by one goal against Te Awamutu B. Te Awamutu A, a bye. Final—Te Awamutu A meets Cambridge today. HANDICAP CUP. In many of the games the result has decided both the Provincial and Handicap Cup matches. This has been- found necessary owing to limited time necessitating a reduction in the number of games which would have been necessary had separate games been played. The handicaps are given in parentheses,Te Awamutu B (7) 8 ; Te Awamutu A (scr) 6; Cambrige (4) 10; Hamilton B (7) 9; Hamilton A (6) 12 ; Waihou (3) 5 ) Te Awamutu C (10) withdrew, after playing one match, which proved an easy win.
