DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB.

EASTER SHOOT. There was a good muster of members at the range for the three days’ shoot. The weather was good, and though the wind was very tricky at times, some good shooting was done.

Friday’s shoot was at 300, 500, and 600 yards. The trophy presented by Mr Meyer for the highest score at 300 yards, was won by Mr T. Mclnnes. The shoot for Messrs Phillips and Impey’s trophy ended in a tie between Blythe and Meyers for the day’s aggregate. The latter won on the shoot off, Mr Blythe taking the club’s second prize of 100 rounds, and Mr Lenehan third prize of 50 rounds. On Saturday interest centred in the shoot for Mr Luk’s trophy, which was for the aggregate for 500, 600 and 800 yards. The winner was Mr McMurray, with Messrs T. Mclnnes and Blythe tieing for second place, the latter winning on the shoot-off and taking the club’s second prize of 100 rounds, and Mr Mclnnes taking 50 rounds for third place. Monday’s shoot was on the long ranges, being 800, 900 aneb 1000 yards. Keen interest was displayed for Mr Jackson’s trophy, which was for the day’s aggregate, and was won by Mr Walters, with Messrs McMurray and Lenehan tieing for second place. They divided the club’s second and third prize of 100 rounds and 50 rounds together. This shoot also decided the winner of the President’s medal, presented by Mr Young for the aggregate for the three day’s handicap shoot. It fell to Mr McMurray, with Mr Walters second.

Le Sueur’s Challenge Cup for the three days’ aggregate, with no handicap, was won this year by A. McMurray, with A. Blythe runner-up. Last year this honor fell to Mr Edgecumbe, with Blythe second. At the conclusion of the shoot a hearty vote of thanks was accorded all those who had donated trophies. Following are the scores : GOOD FRIDAY SHOOT. One sighter and seven shots.
