POLO TOURNAMENT.

The annual tournament under the Auckland Provincial Polo Association was opened at Hamilton yesterday and will be continued throughout the week. The competitions will be for the Provincial Cup, which has been held for several seasons by the Te Awamutu club, and for the Handicap Cup. Nine teams have entered comprising Te Awamutu A B and C teams; Hamilton A and B Waitomo, Waihou, Cambridge and Otorohanga. The handicaps for the cup will be declared after the first round of the championship has been played. In the presence of a number of spectators the first round for the Provincial cup was commenced yesterday when Te Awamutu A beat Hamilton A by 6 goals to 4 and Cambridge beat Hamilton B by 7 goals to i. The games were fast and a very good exhibition of polo was given.
