PRESENTATION.
After Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, Te Awamutu, on Sunday last, the following address, handsomely illuminated, was presented to Mr and Mrs F. McGovern, who are leaving the district for an extended holiday in America and the home lands : “It is with much regret we learn that you intend severing your connection, temporarily, we hope, with this parish. During the many years you have resided here, you have, by regular attendance to your Catholic duties, by your very liberal support of the various parochial needs and by your many labours on the various committees of the parish pointed the way for every good Catholic to follow. You have given an example of what every colonial Catholic should do, and you have been foremost in acquiring our valuable church property at Te Awamutu. We, therefore, sincerely trust that, after your proposed visit to the Old Land, kind Providence will bring you both, with the other members of your respected family, back to New Zealand. That your holiday abroad may be an enjoyable and beneficial one, and that, with.renewed strength and increased vigour, you will retrace your steps to this parish is the sincere wish of all. Signed on behalf of the parishioners —Rev. T. P. Lynqh, P.P., D. O’Shea, F. De Coek, P. O’Sullivan, F. J. Kay, A. Kay, E. Fitzpatrick, 4 A. Karl, V. Fitzpatrick, W. McCarthy, D. Cavanagh, C. Rauch.” The Rev. Father Lynch highly eulogised Mr and Mrs McGovern, and voiced the general feeling of regret at their departure, and the general wish for their pleasant holiday, and safe return to the land of their adoption.
