DISTRICT NEWS.

KORAKONUI.

(Own Correspondent),

On Wednesday, ioth instant, a severe thunder storm swept over the district, bringing with it a deluge of rain. Mr Duncan had the misfortune of having four of his cows killed by lightning. Wintry weather continues. We regret to state that Mr Holden was kicked on the head by a young horse and rendered unconscious for nearly an hour. He very narrowly escaped the loss of an eye. He was very promptly attended to by Dr Reekie, who with difficulty arrived at the scene of the accident.

At the beginning of last week Mr Froggatt had half of his cream stolen from an eight gallon can which was placed on the roadside for the cream cart to pick up. So far there is no clue to the thief.

While playing near the school a little girl named Lena Baker tripped and fell heavily, causing a fracture of her collar bone. She is progressing favourably. At the end of last vweek a waggon, owned by Mr Thomson of Kihikihi, capsized while going up the side of a hill. The driver had a veryinarrow escape. School breaks up on 20th inst, and the school picnic has been arranged for Boxing Day.
