FARMERS' UNION.

MANGAORONGA BRANCH

A meeting of the above branch was held at the Rangiatea school house on Bth instant. Present: — Messrs Sircombe (chairman), Scolt, Lurman, Ingham, Evans, Prendergast, Keating, S. Chiles, E. Chiles, Disher, Budge, Farmer, and Swainson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

Inward and outward correspondence was read.

Messrs R. Disher and A. Farmer were elected members.

Copies of amendments i and other Parliamentary matter to various bills were received with thanks from Hon. W. H. Hemes and Mr J. A. Young. M.P. . It was proposed by Mr Swainson, secconded by Mr Prendergast, that the secretary write to the chairman of the Maniapoto Land Board asking if, with the courtesy of his board, it would be possible to procure land in Block 218 No. 2, near the waterfall at Maihiihi, for the purpose of laying out a township for which representations have already been made to the Minister of Lands.

In reply to a letter from the Public Works office, the secretary was instructed to write stat ing the matter of charges in connection with the road work clone at Mangaoronga rests more with the parties who did the work and the road engineer in charge. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Young, M.P., for his courtesy and kindness in looking after the interests of this district. The secretary was requested to write to the secretary of the Auckland Education Board, asking the board to continue negotiations for the five acres of land as a school site at Maihiihi.

It was proposed by Mr Ingham and seconded by Mr Lurman that (his branch place on record its high appreciation of the services rendered by those members who went to Auckland to assist in the strike trouble.
