Messrs Lawson, Swain, and Walker, Ltd.. report that Christmas poultry was in good supply last Saturday and realised top prices. New potatoes realised 5s per cwt. Sundries sold in buyers' favour.
The Railway Department has altered its former instructions for the transfer of Mr Mcpherson from Woodlands to Te Awamutu to succeed Mr Comer, who is to proceed to take charge at Lower Hutt. It has now been arranged that Mr R. S. Pasby will be transferred from Thorndon to Te Awamutu, and it is probable that the transfer will be made at the end of this week.
Notie is given in to-days issue that a meeting of ratepayers will be held on Monday evening next to consider the proposal to introduce the system of ratingproperty upon the basis of unimproved value at Te Awamntu, and in this connection it is also notified that a'poll of the ratepayers will be taken on Tuesday, 23rd inst. This proposal is one of very considerable importance to Te Awamutu, and is one into which ratepayers should not plunge without having given proper consideration to the possible effects of a change in the rating system.
