TE AWAMUTU TOWN BOARD.
The adjourned meeting of the above board was held in the board’s office on Friday afterPresent: —Messrs A. S. Wallace (chairman), J. B. Teasdale, W. Taylor, Dr Reekie and the board’s engineer, Mr FI. Munro Wilson. _ ; A communication was received from Mr T. G. G*"ace, Pirongia, stating that the foreman and his workmen had their cable gear and plant erected on his property without his knowledge and permission.
A request was made that the board complete the purchase of the 150 acres, £6 10s per acre, or pay £lO compensation. —Moved by Dr Reekie that the matter be left in the hands of the engineer to be dealt with, and that Mr O’Shea be paid as soon as the transfer is completed. Mr A. Lester wrote applying for the- sum of £lB 6s 6d, proceeds of the sale of a horse which had been impounded at Te Awamutu in October last, and which he believed was his. He would be prepared to sign the usual declara tion to that effect. —The matter was left with the clerk to deal with.
A request, signed by several property holders in Walton Street, asking that the presentopportunity be availed ol to obtain the opinion of a professional man in regard to beautifying Walton Street was read. A copy of the suggestions were enclosed Urom Mr J. W. Hodges, and it 'was asked that the board give their sanction to the work being carried out.—As the levelling of Walton Street is not yet completed, it was decided to defer the matter. Mr H. Y. Collins wrote enclosing sketch plan ot a subdivision mfide by Mrs Raikes on the eastern side of the Kihikihi road. It was pointed out that for the purpose of giving a title to
the subdivisions it was necessary • t 0 form and the shown upon the plan, ana it was asked that the hoard's requirebe supplied in respect of roads.-- Resolved ;hat the supply the necessary information."
Messrs Wingate and o. wrote advising the boarct ol the date cm which shipments of pipes ior the waterworks were to be expected in Auckland. Several accounts were passed for payment. Plans were submitted by the engineer of the town boundaries, proposed drainage scheme, and the c«tchment area at Pirongia.
