FARMERS’ UNION.

A meeting of the committee appointed to make arrangements for the welcoming home of the ! Te Awamutu specials took place at the Cosmopolitan club room on Saturday evening. The president of the union, Mr C. .Alexander, presided, and expressed the opinion that it would be necessary for the welcome to take place with as little delay as possible, as otherwise it would come at a time when all the farmers were busy harvesting -r>. The manner in which the Wellcome should take place was fully ’•discussed, and it was eventually decided that a sports meeting be held during the day, and that a smokeAconcert take place the same evening. Some difficulty was experienced in determining upon a suitable day, as the hall was not available. The meeting concluded without any definite date having been decided upon, and from encjuiiies made we learn that it is very probable that the function will not take place until January. The president is now making full enquiries and is to report to 'the meeting of the branch on Thursday next, when a decision will be arrived at. Representatives from Hairini, Pirongia, Paterangi were present, and all expressed their willingness to join in with the Te Awa- ' ,mutu branch to help in making the-function a success. > The following committees were appointed to carry out the various arrangements : Sports Committee: Messrs Potts, Storey, A. S. Wallace, Spinley and W. Kay. ‘ Ground Committee : Messrs G. * Pollard, H. Weal, A. Bond and Cavanagh. Catering Committee : Messrs G. McGhie, W. Taylor, F. W. Finley, G. Hall, Mackay, Johnston, and Budden. Musical Committee: Messrs li. Hay, ’ jnr, McLean,, Stewart, and Finley.
