(Own Correspondent)
There was a good attendance of settlers at Mr St. Clair’s house on 23rd inst., when there was brought up for discussion the advisability of running a mail service into the■ settlement, the sum of £lO being subscribed towards that object. Mr H. St. Clair was appointed treasurer. It is proposed to erect a dairy factory on the township site, and Mr Ashby was authorised to obtain full particulars in regard to starting a co-operative factory, and to report at next meeting. It was also decided to apply for a grant for a school on the township site, and a committee was formed to go fully into the matter. The committee appointed were: —Messrs Ashby, Lloyd, Burnett and Mankelow. Mr 11. St. Clair was appointed secretary and instructed to push the matter forward as soon as possible. Once more Christmas is drawing near, and it is to be hoped that the picnic fund will be started as soon as. possible, as it is greatly to be desired that a picnic should be held. An energetic carter is badly, wanted here, as there is a large amount of goods now offering at very fair prices, and the road is now finished and in good order for traffic. /
