On Thursday, October 25th, a meeting of the local branch of Farmer’s Union was held. The attendance was very poor, only about five members being present, and consequently very little business was transacted.
Dr Mcllraith, M.A., LL.D., recently paid a visit to the district, and held the annual examination. A new school has been promised, and it is expected will be ready by the beginning of the new year. In addition there will also be a teacher’s residence. The attendance at the school now numbers fifty.
Dairying is now in full swing. The roads are gradually improving, and traffic is on the increase. Warm rain followed by bright sunny days and mild nights is accountable for considerable growth in the grass, and an abundance of feed is promised, Mr T. Lawry has been suffering frorn an affection of the eye, but we are glad to be able to report a slight improvement with hopes of a speedy recovery.’
