ORANGE BLOSSOMS.
COX—MCGOVERN An exceeding pretty and popular wedding was solemnised at St. Patrick's Church,Te Awamutu yesterday morning, on the occasion of tlie marriage of Miss Kathleen,fourth daughter of MrF. McGovern, of this town, to Mr. Edmund A. Cox, second son of Mr. E. B. Cox, of Roto-o-Rangi. The church, which was filled with many friends of the young couple, had been tastefully decorated by the girl-friends of the bride, the floral wedding-bell being very much admired. The Rev. Father Lynch, assisted by Fathers Brennan and Torney officiated. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked sweetly pretty in a beautiful white duchesse satin frock with train, and underskirt of silk lace. The bodice was prettily trimmed with silk lace and pearl trimmings, and a handsome embroidered veil and wreath of orange blassoms completed an elaborate toilette. She wore a beautiful diamond and emerald ring, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Misses F. Cox, sister oi the groom, and Maura Quin, neice of the bride, the former being in a pretty pink voile over glace silk, floral sash and brown tagel hat trimmed with pink and brown roses, and the latter in a dainty embroidered white voile frock and pale pink and white crinoline mob cap. The bridegroom was supported by Mr J. McGovern, brother of the bride, as best man, and Mr W. Mowbray as groomsman.
As the. bridal party lett the church showers of rice accompanied them until the motor cars in readiness were reached. The ceremony over, a reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents "Greenmeadows," where the relatives of the contracting parties were present. Of the dresses of those present we noticed : Mrs McGovern senr. handsome mauve brocade with guipure trimmings, black tagel hat and ostrich plumes : Mrs Cox, navy costume . with handsome black toque ; Miss B. McGovern, beautiful old rose eolienne with applique of lace, leghorn hat with floral trimmings; Miss P. McGovern, tailored navy costume, pretty leghorn hat with shot silk trimmings; Mrs F. Quin, grey silk poplin with trimmings of floral ninon and rosepoint lace, floral hat, lancer plumes ; Mrs J. O'Sullivan, grey tailored costume with touches of oriental brocade, black tagel hat with lancer plumes; Mrs J. McGovern, Royal blue salome satin, with embroidered trimmings, black hat with lancer plumes; Mrs F. D. McGovern, gold and brown silk crepe, with trimmings of lace and Bulgarian silk, black hat with chiffon and large lancer plume; Miss Cox, white frock, black hat, with spray Of shaded roses; Miss M. Cox, white frock, with pink sash, pink and white hat; Mrs Cox jnr., white dress, feather boa, pretty white chip hat; Miss Herlihy, blue silk frock, black lace hat with red roses.
A large number of valuable presents, the gifts of many friends, had been received. The bridegroom's gift to the chief bridesmaid was a silver-mounted dressing case, and to the second bridesmaid a gold cable bangle. The bride's going-away dress was a navy blue costume, black tagel hat with lancer, plumes. Mr and Mrs Cox will spend the honeymoon in the South Island.
