MANGAPIKO TENNIS CLUB.
A meeting of the above club was held last week at the residence of Mr Hay (senr.) Mr McLean occupied the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Mr McLean was elected chairman for the ensuing year.
The secretary was instructed to pay all outstanding accounts. A management committee of those present was formed with power to add. The club expressed its great appreciation of the generosity and valuable practical services rendered by Messrs Hay and McLean.
The- following officers were elected Patron, Mr Hey; president, Mr C. M. Alexander; vicepresidents Messrs Clarke, senr., Jary, 7 McConkey and W. Alexander ; honorary secretary, Mr C. Mathers; honorary treasurer, Mr Harold.
The club opened its season on Saturday under most favourable circumstances, a large number of residents availing themselves of the tempting spring day. The courts were in splendid order, and a number of enjoyable sets were keenly contested. The financial condition of the club is very sound, and it is contemplated in the near future to add a number of necessary requirements to the courts and grounds. The future prospects are excellent and a successful'season is anticipated, both in the game and membership.
