It is necessary llud all letters for publication should bear the name of the writer no! necessarily fOl publication, but as evidence of pood faith.) TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—ln view of tile fact that there seems “that* there seems to be some misunderstanding with regard to the-ballot which took place under the auspices of the Te Awamutu Terminating Building Society last Tuesday evening I think,it only right to make the position quite plain. Ihe (acts are as follows : The person whose marble was first drawn from the ballot box bad agreed to become a member of the So'cietv and had signed the required application. He was notified of meetings and was rendered statements showing his indebtedness to the society in the usual wa.y. and in the same manner as other members, and until a few davs before the appropriation meeting he had paid no dues, nor had I received any notice of his intention to withdraw. It was not until I had the society’s books made up and the ballot balls and sheets prepared that I received .a telephone message to say that the person intended to withdraw his application. It was, however, too late for me to make any alteration in the books, so 1 had perforce to let the matter stand, with the result that upon hjs number being drawn and reference being made to the society’s books, his right to have the appropriation was cancelled, owing to the fact that he wasun'financial in. terms set out in the rules. —I am, etc.,
. A: J. Bray, , Secretary Te Awamutu Terminating Building Society.
