TE AWAMUTU v. HAMILTON WANDERERS.

A cup game between the two above teams was played under very favourable circumstances on Saturday last at Mr Wallace’s grounds. Hamilton winning the toss were elected to play with what slight advantage the ground presented in their favour. From the kick-off the ball went out to Barber, who, making the best of this opportunity, raced down the field and centred, but the shot which followed went wide. From centrefield Daniels sent to Shepherd who headed . the ball for goal, but he was unfortunate, his shot missing by inches. From the kick Keys got in touch with the leather, and playing down field centred aci’oss to Daniels, whose shot again missed the net. Coward getting possession soon had Betteridge working, but the Te Awamutu back was up to form and sent the ball back to Keys, who in turn centred to Clarke, who passed to Daniels, and a shot from the latter player scored —I to nil. Several attacks at this point by the Hamilton forwards ended in Betteridge stopping some hot shots in goal, this player falling back when Teddy went out to a rush. Te Awamutu’s half-back line seemed all at sea, this being noticed of the right wing who had some difficulty in keeping his place. Hamilton breaking through the defence of Deen, Robson sent in an easy, shot which Teddy helped through the goal T all. Soon after this stage She/uerd putting in some good play, netted Te Awamutu’s seccond goal with a beautiful shot —2, I. The second spell ended with the scores unaltered. The second half was very slow. The Te Awamutu team going to pieces, and after the backs playing with the ball instead of coltaring, Allen scored, thus equalising the scores. Although a good deal of work seemed to be done by the Te Awamutu forwards after this point, nothing came of it and the game 'ended the scores unaltered.
