Writing from London on June Bth, Mr M. S. Laurie makes special mention of the " Derby " at which he was present. Driving from London in a " four-in-hand," they were three hours covering fifteen miles, but when the traffic is considered, with the necessary stoppages, this was very satisfactory time in which to complete the journey. Referring to the disqualification of Croganour in the Derby, the writer states it was the most sensational event that has taken place in England for a long time. The act of the women suffragette rushing out to catch hold of His Majesty's horse put a climax on the day's sport. Mr Laurie at the time was contemplating a tour of Scotland, which was to occupy a fortnight. A deal of information was given him by the sub-mana-ger of the Bank of New Zealand with whom Mr Laurie had a long interview. At the time of writing the weather was very bad, colds being very prevalent.
