TO THE EDITOR. Slß,—Will you kindly allow me, through your paper, to say that the time for making our annual collection in aid of Barnardo's Homes, has again arrived, and, during the next two weeks, the collectors will, as far as possible, leave an envelope at every house in the district. Barnardo's homes for destitute children are too well known to need any introduction to the public, beyond stating that it is a work that appeals to everyone, from cither a humane or economical point of view, as anything that promotes the welfare of these poor waifs and strays must needs stand for a big-brick in Empire building. The local secretary will be very glad to receive any offers of help in the matter of collecting. This collection is an annual affair, the money being sent direct to the homes in London. There is no connection whatever between this and the "'chain letter" said to be in circulation. —1 am, etc., Elizabeth Jones, Hon. Local Secretary.
