OHAUPO.
(Own Correspondent).
A very enthusiastic and wellattended meeting of the Ohaupo Dramatic Society was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday evening last. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The chairman, S. C. Barnott, congratulated the Society upon its sound financial position, there being a substantial credit balance to carry forward for the ensuing year. After considerable discussion it was decided to form the society into a Parliamentary assembly. Upwards of fifty names were handed in as members, which only goes to prove the popularity ot such valuable and educating amusements. The leading parts are to betaken by Messrs W. Johnson (Premier), Geo. Tooman (Leader of the Opposition), and F. Cullen (Secretary). It was resolved that the new term commence on June 9th. The meeting closed with the usual vote to the chair, and three hearty cheers for the retiring and untiring secretary, Mr Tooman.
The many friends will regret to hear of the transfer of Mr N. Carroll to Te Kuiti. We wish the late popular postmaster every success.
Our little town is apparently making a move. Mr Grey has opened up in business, and Mr W. B! Reid has also come to the fore with another much appreciated enterprise, and has opened supper and luncheon rooms.
